Sleep Apnoea Services – Mauritius

Specialised in sleep apnoea, backed by care.

The clinical diagnosis made by our in house specialist physician will determine which test is to be performed.

Polysomnography (PSG) involves recording of brain activity and is used when a simpler test has not provided a clear answer.

Depending on the detailed results of PG and the clinical scenario.

It is essential to follow-up all patients who have been fitted with a device to determine their response to treatment and allow fine tuning of various parameters. This is a free service.

Free device maintenance is done to clear the air circuit and to check filters. This ensures optimum functioning of the apparatus.

To ensure that the treatment of patients is never interrupted in case of breakdown.

Support is sometimes needed in the early phases of treatment to make sure that patients are using their treatment devices with ease.

In case of breakdown of a device (during guarantee period and even after), we give technical support to all patients including a bridge-over temporary replacement device.

We specialise in Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA)

A common yet frequently undiagnosed illness, obstructive sleep apnoea (Apnée du sommeil) is a life-threatening disease characterised by a set of key symptoms. We specialise in helping patients in Mauritius find out more and be treated for Sleep Apnoea (Apnée du sommeil).

If you suffer from:

  • Snoring (often noticed by a sleeping partner)
  • Chronic fatigue
  • Daytime sleepiness
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Difficulty to control blood pressure
  • Obesity
  • Difficulty to control diabetes
  • Difficulty to control heart failure

Then you need to think about OSA and visit our resident specialist.

We diagnose OSA after a nocturnal sleep recording with a combination of polysomnography and polygraphy. While polygraphy is done at home, we prefer to do complete polysomnography in the clinic because it involves the recording of brain activity during sleep. We also utilise a device that detects night time micro-awakenings (very short awakenings of which the person is unaware) which are related to sleep apnoea (Apnée du sommeil).

For results and diagnosis, we use screen visualisation. Results are always confirmed by our in-house specialist, Dr Keser Pillai, FRCP (Glasg.). We also provide feedback to all doctors who refer patients to us for diagnosis and treatment.
